Welcome to West Bridgford U3A.   If you are retired or semi retired you are eligible to join us; there is no minimum age.   We provide education, recreation and companionship in a mix that is of your choosing.

We are still a young and friendly organisation but, though we are growing rapidly, we intend to maintain that friendliness.   As you might expect, increasing our membership is enabling us to increase the range of activities we can offer.

U3A stands for University of the Third Age though the word university can be misleading.   We are not like a conventional university in several important ways, including: we do not ask for any qualifications for entry and we don’t give any qualifications either.   The educational opportunities we offer are about retired people learning together and, within the boundaries of what our members bring, what they want to learn.   Retired people bring so much experience and expertise with them.   We are all volunteers and we are a self-help organisation.

U3A is a wonderful creation.   It is a phenomenon of our age with nearly 230,000 members nationally and 741 U3As. It has doubled in membership over the last five years.   It’s enjoyable and it’s fun. Come and talk and see if you want to join us.
